## Definition

Conversion Disorder involves the presence of one or more symptoms of altered motor or sensory function that are inconsistent with or cannot be fully explained by medical or neurological conditions. The symptoms cause significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning.

## Examples

- Functional Paralysis: An individual displays paralysis or motor dysfunction with no identifiable medical cause or neurological disorder.
- Non-Epileptic Seizures: A person experiences seizures that do not have a neurological basis and cannot be explained by epilepsy or other medical conditions.
- Sensory Loss: A person experiences loss of sensation, such as blindness or deafness, without any underlying medical or neurological condition.
