Immigration Sponsor An immigration sponsor is a citizen or lawful permanent resident of a destination country (e.g., United States) who takes legal responsibility for supporting a foreign national seeking to enter or remain in the destination country (e.g., U.S.). The sponsor usually submits an affidavit of support, which is a legally enforceable contract stating that they will financially support the immigrant to ensure they do not become a public charge.
