Definition
Motor neuron disorders are a group of progressive neurological diseases that affect the motor neurons, which are the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscles. These disorders lead to muscle weakness, atrophy, and eventual paralysis as the motor neurons degenerate and die.
