Definition
The Advance Parole application, commonly submitted on Form I-131 in the United States, allows certain individuals with pending applications for adjustment of status (green card) to travel outside the country and return without abandoning their application. This is particularly important for individuals who have applied for a green card and want to travel before their green card is approved to avoid potential issues with re-entry. Advance Parole is also used by individuals with certain immigration statuses (like DACA recipients) to seek permission to travel internationally while maintaining their legal status
