Definition
Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a type of skin cancer that originates in the squamous cells, which make up the middle and outer layers of the skin. It can grow more rapidly than basal cell carcinoma and has a higher risk of spreading to other parts of the body, requiring treatments such as surgical excision, radiation therapy, and, in some cases, chemotherapy.
